around on your desktop or dock it and keep it in sight while you're working.
So what is a widget and why in the world
would you want one? Think of it as a little
window into the web. With the right widgets,
you can stay up to date on a variety of
topics, including news feeds, without
spending time searching.

The get this widget to the right, first you'll
have to download and install the
SpringWidget engine platform by clicking on
the small green icon under the widget. If you
don't already have the engine installed, and
it's likely you don't, it will take you to the
download site. The SpringWidget engine
contains no spyware, adware or malware. It's
easy to install and, should you ever decide
you don't want it, it's easy to remove.

Once you've loaded the platform, you'll be
able to "spring" widgets to your desktop
using a single click anytime you see and
click on the little green widget icon. The
platform itself will keep all your widgets in a
handy mini-desktop - it's the little green icon
that will appear in your tray at the bottom of
your screen. You can retrieve any of your
widgets by clicking on the icon.

That mini-desktop will include a few widgets
already in place, including a clock, sports
scores and one called "RSS." It's the RSS
icon that you'll click on to see all the news
feeds you have chosen.

Don't want to have to call them up when you
need them? No problem. You can select one
or more of the widgets and keep it docked
on your desktop. It will automatically update
whenever a new g
eospatial story or headline
is filed.

You can also chose to see just headlines or
headlines and a story summary. Click on the
headline and it will take you to the brief, and
click on that headline and it will take you to
the original story.
